Campaign for Mayor

The campaign for Mayor of the City of Brookfield is almost non-existent. Both candidates have chosen to run a new style of campaign depending on the electronic age of web sites and computer generated contact. The old style of the personal touch and live discussions with the voters is fading away. The result is that voters never really meet the candidates or have a chance to voice their opinions. The staff inspired decisions of important matters like the budget have become the decision makers. The candidates again and again repeat the same old themes such as smaller government and no more taxes, both of which never happen. Despite partisan political influences unions are still a major part of operating city government. Time will tell but at the moment there is nothing much different between tones of the candidates. The incumbent, Steve Ponto, has both the experience of being Mayor and the competence to regain the office.
