Practically Speaking

Kyle and her husband moved to Brookfield in 1986. She became active in local politics and started blogging in 2004. Her focus is primarily on local issues but often includes state and national topics, too. Kyle looks at things from the taxpayers' perspective in a creative, yet down to earth way, addressing them from a practical point of view.

Brookfield needs to increase density and zoning, why?

City of Brookfield, Development

I was pretty much laughed at when I suggested increasing density and having unoccupied retail and office was a bad thing. The original Flanners is still vacant.

Another article talked about  debunked businesses not paying their taxes.

Why do we need to increase density at Fountain square? Perceron square?

Vacant property looks BAD.

re: Fantasy weather forecasts
Speaking of fantasies, Ms. Kyle, did you notice the BrookfieldNOW article on Stonewood Village? They want to transformed it into a wedding centre. Apparently they are planning on buying VK's duck preserve on Beaufort Dr. just across the street and building a specialty centre. That would be great for us locals. It would hide all the summer uncut weeds and bird doo. It would also restrict the outside view from VK's unoccupied upscale condos to almost nothing but uncut weeds, birds and doo. i.e. "All the amenities". Sounds win-win to all of us former meadow lovers. Now no one gets to enjoy anything in that corner of the world. Except, of course, for the tax assessor! Isn't community planning just too much?
