Where is the spring prep sports going?

In most successful business, you have to look ahead. Recently while working on some scheduling and assignments, I did a double-take. Conference Championships for boys tennis, boys golf and boys and girls track and field begin next week!

It seems like we're just getting into the spring season, but conference championships mean the regular season is over folks.

The Greater Metro and Woodland Conference tennis tournamants are Tuesday-Wednesday, the outdoor track championships are Tuesday and the golf championships are Wednesday. That means regionals begin the week of May 21.

Add to that summer baseball begins practice this Friday and the first games are May 23.

And there are still some great girls soccer races going - Tosa East (5-0), Brookfield Central (4-0-1) and DSHA (4-1) are battling in the GMC, while Tosa West (7-0-1), Pewaukee (7-1), New Berlin Eisenhower (7-1), Greendale (4-1-2), Shorewood (5-2-1) and New Berlin West (4-2) have an outstanding race going in the Woodland.

Eisenhower (7-0) and NB West (11-0) leading their divisions in softball and Brookfield East (6-2) has turned the GMC race into a 4-team race with co-defending champions - Menomonee Falls (8-1) and West Allis Hale (6-2) - and Sussex Hamilton (7-1). Coach Rich Anderson's Spartans have beaten both Falls and Hale in it's last three games.

On another matter, an injury-riddled Brookfield East soccer team (1-3-1) got Taylor Swittel back and came back to tie Brookfield Central, 2-2, as Swittel scored twice in the second half to wipe out a 2-0 Lancers lead as all four goals came in the second half. Then didn't do their crosstown rivals any favors.

Central (4-0-1) now battles Tosa East (5-0) at Whitman Field on Tuesday in a huge match with the league lead on the line and DSHA breathing down both their necks. More on this to come in another blog!.
