The planned $100 million Town of Brookfield retail center featuring a Von Maur department store will be designed by a Baltimore firm that has done several town center-style developments.
Baltimore-based Development Design Group Inc. is working on the design with Milwaukee's Eppstein Uhen Architects Inc., said Bruce Westling, of MLG Commercial, the project's consultant and leasing broker.
The 450,000-square-foot Brookfield project, planned for 19 acres north of I-94 and east of Barker Road, will feature a 1,900-space parking deck topped with the three-story, 150,000-square-foot Von Maur building, and other store, restaurant and office buildings.
Davenport, Iowa-based based Von Maur will finance and develop its building, with Marcus Corp. developing the remaining buildilngs.
The project, with the preliminary name of Poplar Creek, will have a design somewhat similar to Glendale's Bayshore Town Center, with a street grid and town square, said Katie Falvey, real estate director at Marcus.
Development Design Group, also known as DDG, has several town centers in its portfolio. Those projects include Bayshore Town Center, as well as Easton Town Center, a Columbus, Ohio, development created by Steiner Group, Bayshore's lead developer and co-owner.
Artist renderings of Poplar Creek haven't been released yet. But you can see examples of DDG's town center projects here.
