Voters will have choices in Elmbrook election

Jan. 3, 2012

Both Elmbrook School Board incumbents up for re-election April 3 will be challenged.

Paul Byrne, a four-year resident of Elm Grove will face incumbent Jean Lambert for the seat representing Area IV, roughly the southeast quadrant of the district.

Lynne Thomas, who is in her fourth year as a Brookfield resident, will challenge incumbent Meg Wartman for the at-large seat.

"The district is facing a lot of challenges, and I feel that my strategic planning background will be useful in the new financial environment," Byrne said.

When she announced her intention to run again in November, Lambert noted there was a lot of work to be done including "a greater focus on student achievement" and "acclimating a new superintendent."

Thomas said she wants to help the district respond to changes more proactively in the statewide educational landscape and "represent younger parents" in the district.

Wartman said she wants to stay on the board because "I'm excited about what we are doing."
