Waukesha - Authorities have new evidence that could lead to additional sexual assault and child pornography charges being filed against a former Brookfield martial arts instructor awaiting sentencing for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old student, court records say.

A search warrant filed Wednesday says that a Brookfield police detective found three videos on the computer hard drive of Arleigh C. Smith, 24, that show Smith allegedly assaulting a teenage boy, according to court records.

Detective Ronald LaGosh says in records filed with the warrant that the assaults occurred in Milwaukee and that he was able to identify the youth, believed to be 13 at the time of the incidents.

Smith had been scheduled to be sentenced last month in the assault of a 13-year-old Brookfield boy who was his student. However, the sentencing was delayed when authorities told a Waukesha County circuit judge that they were investigating additional allegations in Waukesha and Milwaukee counties.

Smith was charged in August with eight felonies in connection with the assault of the 13-year-old Brookfield boy. As part of a plea agreement, Smith pleaded no contest in January to one count of second-degree sexual assault of a child and was found guilty by Judge Robert Mawdsley.

Smith was charged after the boy's mother discovered a sexually explicit instant message on the family's computer and called police, according to a criminal complaint.

The boy told police he had sexual contact with Smith at the martial arts school, JK Lee Black Belt Academy, 12645 W. Lisbon Road. Owner Chan Lee said last month that the latest alleged victim to come forward in Milwaukee County was not a student at JK Lee. Lee also said that Smith was hired because he had passed a background check.
