East high school leading prom contest

Feb. 18, 2010

Brookfield East High School is in the lead to win $100,000 to fund the school's prom in the Dell SuperProm contest.

The contest, which calls for students to create a one-minute video explaining why their school deserves to win, promises to reward the winner with a "dream prom, complete with a celebrity deejay, ultra-chic décor, incredible food and more."

Brookfield East's video, entered by junior class president Joe Springer, shows students engaged in a Star Wars-style lightsaber battle between characters representing the economic recession, the Brookfield East prom and the Dell SuperProm contest.

The winner of the contest will be determined strictly by votes, and Brookfield East has been fighting to hang onto the lead. Voting is open through Feb. 28.
