Alex Palmer of Elm Grove is one of the 36 winners of the prestigious Marshall Scholarship, which allows graduate students from across the United States to study in the United Kingdom. Palmer graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College in 2012 with a degree in social studies and a language citation in Spanish. He plans to study conflict, security and development at King's College in London. Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as a junior, Palmer has been active in public service around the world. At Harvard, he co-founded the first undergraduate organization dedicated to reintegrating veterans. He volunteered with refugees in Venezuela, Kenya, and the West Bank, and he founded a nonprofit that educates refugee children in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. As managing editor of the Harvard International Review, Palmer published feature-length articles on topics ranging from Kenyan politics to American global strategy and humanitarian intervention. He also competed in 14 triathlons, and his documentary photographs have been featured in several exhibits and magazines.

Alexander Vincent of Elm Grove made the spring semester dean's list at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
