One-act play 'Tartuffe' comes to Central this weekend

Brookfield Central High School presents "Tartuffe," the one-act play by French playwright Moliere, at 2:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the school, 16900 W. Gebhardt Road.

Tickets are $5, and the play will be followed by a trivia contest at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. There can be up to eight people on a team. Admission is $5 at the door or $2 with a ticket stub from "Tartuffe."

Refreshments will be for sale.

Proceeds benefit the Black Box Theater fund.

Pilgrim Park students raise $2,690 for American Legion

On Dec. 22, sixth-grade students at Pilgrim Park Middle School will present the American Legion Post 449 with a check for $2,690 for the American Legion Troop and Family Support Fund. Commander David Latimer will accept the check, which will help pay for the program that provides a network of support and assistance to the families of those serving in the armed forces.

Pilgrim Park students raised the money by holding a Read-a-Thon following their Veterans Day celebration Nov. 11.

St. Mary's Visitation plans book fair at Barnes & Noble

St. Mary's Visitation School and Barnes & Noble have teamed up to raise money for the school. Fifteen to 25 percent of all purchases made by St. Mary's supporters Dec. 9 at the Brookfield Barnes & Noble (and online from Dec. 9 to 14) will go toward updating sections of the school's library.

Special events scheduled for Dec. 9 include:

• 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Erika Navin from the Sunset Playhouse will read "Snowmen at Night" and organize a craft project.

• 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.: St. Mary's physical education teacher will dress up as an elf and pose for pictures with children.

• 6 to 6:45 p.m.: Enjoy a Chocolator drink and listen to holiday tunes from St. Mary's student musicians.

• 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.: The junior high forensics team will perform their skits and speeches.
