Brookfield Central Key Club sponsors food pack-a-thon

The Brookfield Central Key Club is sponsoring a community hunger pack-a-thon from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 12 in the cafeteria at the high school, 16900 W. Gebhardt Road.

The Key Club is organizing the event with Simple Hope, a local group that sponsors food-packing events to help feed starving people in Tanzania.

Registration is $25 per person, which covers the cost of food and shipping for 180 children. To register, visit or e-mail

Brookfield East welcomes seniors to bingo night Feb. 17

Brookfield East High School, 3305 Lilly Road, will host a senior citizen bingo night from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 17 in the school's cafeteria.

Admission, raffle tickets and refreshments are free of charge.

Pilgrim Park students tackle 'High School Musical Jr.'

Students from Pilgrim Park Middle School will perform "High School Musical Jr." at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, 19805 W. Capitol Drive, at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 and 18 and 2 p.m. Feb. 19.

General admission tickets cost $8, and students and seniors will get in for $6. Tickets can be purchased at the box office at the Wilson Center or by visiting

Program on vision, learning comes to Immanuel Lutheran

Kellye Knueppel will discuss undetected vision problems and the link between vision and learning during her presentation, Vision Problems and Learning: Why Bright Students Struggle in School, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at Immanuel Lutheran School, 13445 Hampton Road, Brookfield.

Knueppel is a developmental optometrist at The Vision Therapy Center.

The presentation is free, is open to the public and includes a question-and-answer session.
