City of Brookfield


1A Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft and possessing crack pipe at Pick 'n Save, 12735 W. Capitol Drive, about 2 p.m. Jan. 7. He had concealed $126 worth of merchandise in his jacket and left without paying.

2Two cars in the 13800 block of West Burleigh Road were found broken into about 6 p.m. Jan. 7. Windows were smashed on both cars, and a purse was taken from one.

3A man was arrested for retail theft at Boston Store, 15875 W. Bluemound Road, about 6 p.m. Jan. 7. He had concealed underwear in his coat.

4Bras were taken from Victoria's Secret, 95 N. Moorland Road, about 12:30 p.m. Jan. 8. Loss is estimated at $2,496.

5Copper valued at $225 was taken from a home under construction in the 17900 block of Peregrine Lane between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8.

6A woman said two wallets were taken from her purse at Panera, 2095 N. Calhoun Road, between 1 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 8, and three credit cards were later used fraudulently.

7A male put 10 jackets in a bag at Sears, 115 S. Moorland Road, and drove off without paying for them about 5 p.m. Jan. 9.

8A man was arrested for armed robbery at Kohl's Department Store, 2315 N. 124th St., about 8 p.m. Jan. 10. The man implied he had a weapon in his waistband and made a threatening statement to staff. He took the pants and fled, but was stopped by police at gunpoint, with assistance from the Elm Grove Police. He had a large folding knife in his possession.


9A Milwaukee woman tried to get a prescription painkiller from Pick 'n Save, 17295 W. Capitol Drive, about 8 p.m. Jan. 3 with a fraudulent prescription.

10A 17-year-old was arrested for possession of marijuana in the 3700 block of Fiebrantz Drive about 11 a.m. Jan. 9 after his dad found the drug in his bedroom and called police.


11A man was cited for drunken driving at Bluemound Road and Main Street about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 10.

12A woman was arrested for drunken driving at Calhoun and Bluemound roads about 1 a.m. Jan. 13 after she was seen driving the wrong way on Moorland Road.


13A chimney fire occurred in the 14400 block of Hyland Drive about 10 a.m. Jan. 6. It appeared there was a creosote buildup because the fireplace was used frequently and hadn't been cleaned in several years.

14A vehicle was engulfed in flames at Lisbon and Brookfield roads about 4 p.m. Jan. 7. The driver had pulled over to make a call and got stuck. When he tried to move his car, it started on fire. Police diverted traffic. There were no reported injuries, and the car was towed.

15A man had a diabetic reaction while in his car and pulled over at Gateway Court and Gateway Road about 2 p.m. Jan. 11. Brookfield firefighters broke his car window and pulled him out after receiving a report that the man had been in the car for about an hour and a half and appeared to be sleeping.

16A Milwaukee man working at Olive Garden was arrested for taking a woman's wallet at the restaurant, 18180 W. Bluemound Road, about 8 a.m. Dec. 27. Police saw that the woman's credit card was used at Target, showed surveillance video to the store manager, and identified the man.


17A Brookfield man was arrested for drunken driving at Watertown Road and Mary Lynn Drive about 2:45 a.m. Jan. 11 after his vehicle veered off the road, hit a tree and stopped in a ditch. When an officer asked how much he had had to drink, the driver and his passenger both spoke at the same time. The passenger said, "We were not drinking," as the driver said, "I had two drinks." His breath test showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.13. The driver felt the damage to his car was enough punishment, and so he should not be arrested. He was taken to Waukesha County Jail.

Village of Elm Grove


18A 20-year-old Brookfield man was arrested for possession of marijuana in the 12400 block of West Bluemound Road about 10 p.m. Jan. 9 after he was pulled over because his vehicle had a defective taillight. An officer smelled the marijuana, and the man admitted to having it in the center console, though he said he hadn't smoked it that day. The man had two prior convictions for possession of marijuana, so police sent the matter to the district attorney for review.


19A man was arrested for driving with concealed firearms, a suspended license and no insurance in an unregistered vehicle, after he was stopped for speeding outside Pilgrim Park Middle School, 1500 Pilgrim Parkway, about 2 p.m. Jan. 10.

20Two foreign exchange students had a true Wisconsin experience about 11 p.m. Jan. 10, when they could not get into their house due to thick ice. The family was away from the home in the 15000 block of Watertown Plank Road, and the students could not get the car up the driveway, which was covered in ice. The garage opener — the only way in — would not work. The students stayed elsewhere for the night.
