Junior Spartans registration meeting set for Sept. 17

Junior Spartan Basketball is a competitive, fundamental-driven, select basketball program for boys in fourth through eighth grades attending schools or living within the Brookfield East High School enrollment boundaries and planning on attending Brookfield East.

The annual registration and orientation meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Brookfield East cafeteria.

The two-day tryouts for the 2012-13 teams will be held for all registered players Sept. 22 and 23 in the Brookfield East Field House starting at 6 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Fall lacrosse program set at Pilgrim Park

A fall after-school lacrosse program is set for Thursdays from Sept. 17 through Oct. 18 at Pilgrim Park Middle School.

The program is for boys from third through eighth grades from 4-5:30 p.m. Players need to arrive 15 minutes early for check-in.

Equipment is available for rental. Required gear includes a helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, mouth guard and stick (cup is recommended). Contact Hot4Lax Lacrosse at (262) 717-9996 before the first day to make arrangements for rental. Players should be fitted for equipment at the Hot4Lax Lacrosse Center before start of the session.

The cost is $85, if registered before session. On site fee is an additional $15. Fee includes tank top. Discounted rental fee is $35. Rental does not include stick. Starter sticks are available for purchase on the first day or at the store. Separate deposit check is required for all rentals. Checks made payable to Hot4Lax. Online registration is at

Former East kicker named UAA co-Player of Week

Three Washington University student-athletes received University Athletic Association UAA Athlete of the Week Honors.

Sophomores Chris Haeberle of Elm Grove and Brookfield East earned UAA Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week honors after scoring a goal in each of the Bears' two wins over the weekend.

RAP holding Fall Academy at West Allis Central

The Basketball RAP will be holding its 2012 Fall Academy at West Allis Central High School this month.

The academy will run Monday and Thursday nights from Sept. 24-Nov. 1. Times are 8-9 p.m. or 9-10 p.m.

RAP Club Basketball sets Oct. 6 tryouts

The Wisconsin RAP 2013 Club Basketball Tryouts for fifth-10th grade girls and fifth-11th grade boys have been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6.
